Ok so hither'south a little backstory before I jump into my problem. I've got ii harddrives installed; a SSD and a regular HDD. The SSD is labeled C: since it has Windows and other core programs while the HDD is labeled B:. The solid country is nigh full while the regular 1 even so has over a terabyte of space left to make full. Normally, I have no trouble installing new programs or games to the HDD till now.

When I went to install my new game on B: information technology kept giving me invalid directory errors. And then I went to the game'south forums and discovered that the reason that consequence was happening was considering the game recognized drive letters A and B equally floppy drives as opposed to hard drive messages. Farther investigation revealed that apparently this piddling bit of design is hardcoded into the game and there actually isn't any piece of work around except changing the drive letter. Then I looked up how to do so and made the alter.....then the problems started.

After irresolute the drive letter from B: to Z: I kept getting 'path does not exist' error message with features and hardware connected to Windows on C:. For example, my DVD-ROM bulldoze is labeled D: and everytime I tried to install the game after the drive letter change I got 'D:\, path does not be. make sure the path is right and effort again' error. Another example, when trying to go to Device Director to showtime a set I couldn't because of 'explorer.exe, path does not be' error. Basically, every stride I tried where annihilation was continued to C: or D: I got the 'path does not exist' error. At this point I've done a system restore to before the drive letter changed and I'm running as I was earlier trying to install the game.

My question is, how do I modify the driver alphabetic character of my HDD without getting all the 'path does not exist' errors? If that's not possible, how do I fix the 'path does not exist errors' when the path starts with C: or D:? Is it washed the same way I would with a plan through the properties tab in the target path section and outset in section? Or is there something more invasive I need to practise when the path issue starts with C: and D:?

I appreciate any aid and step past step instructions someone could provide to gear up this effect.

I don't accept any floppy drives.

I am sorry I should of take been more than specific you have that on your keyboard (Impress Screen or Snipping Tool) Here how: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Use-Snipping-Tool-to-capture-screen-shots upload information technology to photobucket.com or other sites and paste the link on here

A: and B: are reserve for floppy drives merely why would information technology see that if no floppy drive installed I would need to see that photograph to see why the estimator assign the drive letter of the alphabet.

You lot tin can disable the floppy controller in the bios.

C: is the Default Windows

D: is the DVD drive

E-Z are open

I oasis't done this before so I am dont know what will happen.

I retrieve you would need to change the "Target to the correct bulldoze letter" reflected on the disk management or automatic I cant say.

C is ok I think

All yous need to exercise is change the first letter to the drive letter for the disk management

so like

If i take target path of in the properties window

E:\Programs files(86)\blah\blah\something.exe

I would modify the starting time latter

F:\Programs files(86)\blah\apathetic\something.exe

To alter drive messages Get to Disk Management

Cheque the disk you want to and select Alter Bulldoze and Letters.

At present, I know how to change the drive letters my issue is just what happens to my computer after I do, i.e. all the 'path does non exist' errors.

A given disk book under Windows 7 may be mounted equally a folder under a dissimilar NTFS volume fifty-fifty if the volume is already mounted with a drive letter. You can therefore have both bulldoze B:\ and the folder (eastward.g.) C:\DriveB\ resolve invisibly to the same disk volume.
